Description of the organization's activities
Ontario Tech University was established by the UOIT Act in 2002. It is the special mission of the university to provide career-oriented university programs that would create opportunities for college graduates to complete a university degree. Ontario Tech provides a leading-edge learning environment that uniquely combines academic knowledge, research opportunities, hands-on skills and a vibrant student life. Ontario Tech is committed to conducting interdisciplinary research that will benefit society by addressing significant social, environmental, health and economic challenges.

Ontario Tech's Board of Governors has overall responsibility for governing and managing the affairs of the university. The university’s Academic Council oversees its academic affairs.
